Ticker Tape Isn’t a Fund: How Our SPVs Work

People often ask whether Ticker Tape is a fund, and whether you have to invest in every deal. Absolutely not. One of the big reasons we created Ticker Tape was to avoid a fund structure. We use single purpose vehicles. When we decide to buy SpaceX, we create an LLC that does only one thing: buy SpaceX at a price we tell you up front.

In one case that was $23 a share, split-adjusted, and you could decide yes or no. When we did one at $130 a share, you might have said that’s too much and skipped it. The same goes for real estate. You know the exact terms and fees, and you decide whether to invest in that particular opportunity. And we invest our own capital in each deal.

Key points

  • Ticker Tape is not a fund, and investors choose deal by deal.
  • Each deal uses a single purpose LLC that buys one asset at a disclosed price.
  • SpaceX rounds ranged from $23 (split-adjusted) to $130 a share.
  • Terms and fees are disclosed before you decide.
