Public Stocks and Energy Plays That Could Benefit From AI

Beyond private deals, we’re also looking at publicly traded stocks, specifically the ones we think will really benefit from AI. That isn’t necessarily the companies developing AI or supplying software and hardware. The long-term winners should be the businesses that gain the most from the efficiency AI brings. That could be Caterpillar, John Deere, auto manufacturers or many other businesses.

Energy is another area, and you can play it many ways: nuclear, geothermal and a lot of solar development. As companies like SpaceX start putting data centers in space, expect investment in more efficient solar panels, which benefits us on Earth too. What we especially like are oil and gas E&P deals or royalty interests with a real estate component, such as drilling rights. They’re not making more land, so that has intrinsic value whether or not it generates cash flow in the short term.

Key points

  • The long-term AI winners may be companies that use AI to become more efficient, not just AI developers.
  • Examples mentioned include Caterpillar, John Deere and auto manufacturers.
  • Energy, including nuclear, geothermal and solar, is another way to play AI.
  • Ticker Tape likes oil and gas deals with a real estate component, such as drilling rights.
